We took our first trip to Santiago yesterday. All I can say is it is such a beautiful city. Totally different than I had imagined it. Our drive from the airport to Viña didn't do it justice, plus the only thing going through my mind at that point is "what have I gotten myself into?" First we went to Villa Grimaldi. It is a beautiful courtyard that was turned into a concentration camp during Chile's dictatorship in the 1970's. All of the evidence of a concentration camp has since been removed, but it is a beautiful memorial garden.
We drove all through the city and there was such cool stuff everywhere. This is an enormous skyscraper they were building.
I'm excited to go back and do some more exploring!
